Apple Thunderbolt display reappears inventory shortage

June 26, according to foreign media MacTrast reported that Apple's Thunderbolt display in a number of third-party reseller inventory tight phenomenon appears again. MacTrast said they had contacted the MicroCenter, Fry "s, CDW, Best Buy, MacConnection and many other third-party distributors, and found that most of the dealers only limited inventory, some have been out of stock, and it is expressed Adorama "is no longer in stock."

Stock tight third party distributors may be because discontinued or imminent new releases, but because Thunderbolt display should not have high production reasons, it is difficult to see what the signs from inventory. In January this year, when, Thunderbolt display had appeared tight inventory phenomenon, even some large distributors, such as Amazon, have no goods.

Apple is preparing a new generation of Thunderbolt display is not yet clear, but some time ago from the Apple server outflow a Defination Wallpaper implies this possibility is very great. This wallpaper is OS X Mavericks a promotional material with a resolution of 5120 x 2880, the size of the current Thunderbolt display twice.

MacTrast that Apple may launch this year a new generation of Thunderbolt display, and the new Mac Pro may be introduced together. MacTrast guess there may be a new generation of Thunderbolt display with Retina screen, support for last year's launch of the Thunderbolt 2, USB 3.0 and MagSafe 2 connector, equipped with a new technology, the body will become thinner.

HP Chromebook Review: A disappointing equipment

June 17 news, the market for Windows 8 due to weak demand, manufacturers are considering to find another way out. As Google's desktop platforms, Chromebook OS is also being more and more manufacturers of all ages. In addition forerunner Samsung and Acer, HP also introduced this year a Pavilion 14, price $ 329. Although the price compared to similar products is not dominant, but as HP's first foray into the Chromebook platform attempts, this Pavilion 14 how the performance of various aspects of it? Look at Engadget recently brought evaluation article:

Pavilion 14 is designed to slightly moderate, not too reactive. Unlike MacBook, Chromebook Pixel even Samsung ARM-based Chromebook, this Pavilion 14 and the average laptop is no different.

The device's shell and Windows platforms Pavilion 14 Sleekbook same, at first glance, the only difference is that the former screen back left corner of the Chrome logo. Pavilion 14 of the fuselage mostly shiny metallic paint, based backlight will present a black, dark gray or dark brown. Equipment side, the screen frame and removable lithium-ion battery for the upper half of the glossy black, while the keyboard keys and the bottom of the fuselage is matte black. The overall look, Pavilion 14 look and feel are very cheap, but also very easily contaminated with smudges, fingerprints and dust. Dell Inspiron 710m Battery

Although the 14-inch Pavilion 14 is currently the largest on the market Chromebook, but it is relatively more compact models, but also very light. Nevertheless this equipment was top-heavy, when used in the thigh easily tip over backwards.

Keyboard and trackpad

Until Acer C7, each one equipped with a standardized Chromebook keyboard arrangement, and is very similar to the current MacBook, including the upper-right corner of the power button, and the left and right sides of the spacebar Ctrl and Alt keys. Chromebook's keyboard also avoided the residual Caps Lock key and search key instead (Alt + Search Caps Lock key is the default key combination can also be changed in the settings).

But HP's Pavilion 14 has broken this tradition, recycling of the PC keyboard layout. Chromebook corresponding function key shortcuts already made changes, Windows key now has become a search key, Ctrl and Alt keys are too small and also other keys are separated, which makes them among the typing is not easy to be at to. Worse rightmost row keyboard extra buttons, including Delete, Home, Pg Up / Dn and End. When using them, we want to press the backspace key is always to press the Home key, which people are very angry, especially considering the left pointer button press Search + already provides the same functionality.
Besides this equipment touchpad. Dell Inspiron 9400 Battery Pavilion 14 trackpad people simply think back to ten years ago. In the entire clickable touchpad is quite common today, this machine but still brought two reflecting the slow left / right, feel and appearance are very bad. In addition, there is an upper-left corner of the touchpad buttons, originally under Windows On / Off touch pad, but here it just did. But at least two-finger scrolling is also recognized, but there is no other Chromebook as smooth.

Display and Sound
Pavilion 14 has a glossy 14-inch display with a resolution of 1366x768. Considering the big screen is one of its main selling points, we naturally look forward to better than average display. Unfortunately, HP selected display panel unsatisfactory. Okay brightness, contrast, in general, poor viewing angles, especially vertical view. Reflex is one of the major problems of this screen, we are always in use need to constantly adjust the screen angle to minimize the reflection. Another problem is that Samsung and Acer's products, though the same resolution and Pavilion 14, but the screen size is only 11.6 inches, so the pixel density is higher. In everyday web browsing on the effect of this screen is fairly decent, but to do some work of eight children, your eyes will likely involvement of the. Dell Latitude D630 Battery

This device is very good Altec Lansing speakers, which can be considered a bonus item. Considering that most laptops passable sound, Pavilion 14 in this area feels very refreshing. Despite the lack of bass, but the device was able to bring loud and pure sound, watching online videos seem appropriate.

Performance and battery life

In Chromebook body, CPU, and GPU performance will affect the overall page rendering, scrolling and video playback, while the memory determines how many labels you can open simultaneously, usually affect storage performance and boot time, such as page caching these aspects. Pavilion 14 equipped with a 1.1GHz dual-core Celeron 847 processor, Intel HD integrated graphics, 2GB RAM, 16GB SSD. Speaking of speed, it lagged behind the Pixel an Dell Alienware M15X Battery  Samsung's Chromebook 550 (Both devices use a faster processor and 4GB of memory), but compared to the use of mechanical hard drives C7 and Samsung ARM Chromebook faster.

In our tests, this device SunSpider score of 519ms, boot time is 8 seconds. Video playback without Caton, even in 1080p next. While the fan is not silent, but did not reach a problem. Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11a/g/n connection work is also very good. In actual use, Pavilion 14 can be described as a web browsing tool, handle multiple labels with ease.

Unfortunately, Pavilion 14 endurance disappointing. According to HP's commitment to its four core 37Wh lithium-ion battery can bring up to 4 hours and 15 minutes of usage time. But in our standard test them (Wifi turn, loop play a local video store), this device only lasted 3 hours 35 minutes. This result is more than just a little bit better Acer C7, which considered the penultimate Chromebook category.Dell Vostro V13 Battery

2013 new Air ran sub: flat overall performance and older

I believe many of my friends have watched the 2013 WWDC (Apple Developers Conference), but have to say that the current WWDC did not meet the demands of hardware control, because Apple released the new Macbook Air though equipped with Intel's new Haswell ULT processors, but the whole appearance does not have any updates, including exciting display. 11 inches and 13-inch versions, respectively, are still stuck in 1366x768 and 1440x900 resolution, while not as equipped as previously rumored retina screen. Nor is there any change in battery capacity and 11-inch version of 35Wh, and 13 inches version was 50Wh. New Macbook Air The biggest change is that the CPU (processor), NAND (flash memory) and DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) on.

All new Apple Macbook Air upgrade to the Intel Core i5-4250U processor, all models of the reference clock frequencies down to 1.3GHz, Turbo Boost, but remains in the post-2.6GHz. Although the reference clock frequency is lower, but because the maximum frequency has not changed, it is expected that the performance does not decrease. To prove this point, we passed one pair Cinebench test run sub to test its overall performance with last year's models at the same level.

In the multi-threaded test, the previous generation 13 inches Macbook Air is equipped Core i5 1.8GHz frequency processor is slightly faster than this generation clocked at 1.3GHz Core i5-4250U processors, but in single-threaded test two are identical, MT test of about 5%, although there but not much. Do not be fooled by the reference clock frequency, which is a combination of the basic clock, maximum frequency and cooling solutions is what determines the performance of the key.

You can let clocked at 1.7GHz Core i7 processor upgrade to 3.3GHz (i7-4650U), both with Haswell GT3 class graphics core, Core i5 maximum graphics core clocked at 1GHz, the maximum core Core i7 graphics clocked at 1.1GHz. Reference frequency from 350MHz GPU down to 200MHz, helps to reduce idle power consumption.

In storage, Apple led the PCIe-based interface SSD solid state hard drive, the latest Mac Pro, Macbook Air also includes a new PCIe-based interfaces have used SSD instead of SATA drives. Let's look at OS X systems analysis, which revealed two PCIe 2.0 interface, can achieve in each direction 1GB / S.

Although I heard Sandisk also launched against Apple PCIe solution, but in this system, but uses a Samsung controller. Quick Bench software through revealed a peak of read and write 800MB / S.

Obviously, the battery life is brand new Macbook Air biggest improvement, as Haswell platform for power optimization, Apple claims that in 2013 the 13-inch MacBook Air for up to 12 hours on a single charge.
